We're Expanding!

It seems it’s taken forever, but the first new aviary in our Phase I expansion is open for occupancy!! It’s a 24’x52’ “condo” that can comfortably house 65 lifetime residents. It consists of 26-4’x8’ “doubles” designed for two-bird occupancy...

and 13-4’x4’ units intended for single occupancy…

The new “condo” aviary is perfect for parrots whose temperament doesn’t lend itself to life in a flock environment or to assimilation beyond the bonded pair. Nonetheless, the units provide ample room for climbing and play, while avoiding the appearance and sensation of isolation.

We are very fortunate that the expansion funds available to us permit a degree of experimentation in the layout of the new aviaries. The flexibility allows us to achieve optimal land use and maximum housing comfort and utility for our parrots.
FEBS relies solely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, estates, and private foundations to fund our daily operations and capital expansion needs. Are you motivated to help us accomplish our mission and provide lifelong care to our feathered residents? You can donate via our website (https://www.flabirdsanctuary.org/make-a-donation) or by mailing a check to 8933 Casper Avenue, Hudson, FL 34667. For information on structured giving and related matters, contact our Treasurer, Dennis Padget, via email at Dennis@flabirdsanctuary.org. Thank you in advance for your love and support.
